TREKKING AROUND ALPAMAYO AND HUASCARAN (18 days/17 nights)

This program invites us to discover the most spectacular face of Mount Alpamayo, internationally recognized since 1966 as the “Most Beautiful Mountain in the World.” The journey will allow us to circle the Cordillera Blanca towards its eastern slope and then return to the northern sector of the range, passing at the foot of the great colossus of the Peruvian Andes: Huascarán, the highest tropical mountain in the world. Itinerary:

Arrival in Lima: Transfer and hotel in Lima. Or connection with the flight to Anta airport. Reception and transfer to Huaraz. Introduction day and very quiet walks in Huaraz and museums.

Lima – Huaraz: Transfer by scheduled tourist bus to Huaraz (3,100 m), “Capital of International Friendship” and considered the “Chamonix of the Andes.” Operations center for our mountain tours. Hotel. In case you arrive by flight to Anta airport, this day will be scheduled as the first acclimatization day. Hike to Radian lagoon (3,900 m). Return to Huaraz. Hotel. (B)

Huaraz: Acclimatization walking to Willcacocha (3,700 m). Night at the lodge. Part of the acclimatization before heading out to the mountains. (B, L, D)

Huaraz: Acclimatization. After breakfast in Willcacocha, return to Huaraz, continuing to Pitec for the day trek to Churup lagoon. Start of the hike to Churup Lagoon (4,400 m). Hotel in Huaraz (3,100 m). (B, L)

Huaraz – Cashapampa – Hualcayan: Transfer in a private bus to Cashapampa. Meeting with the local team and start of the walk towards Huancarhuaz, continuing along an ancient path to Hualcayan. Ascent to 3,500 m, first camp next to a river. (B, L, D)

Camp next to the river – Jamacuna (3,900 m) – Wishcash (4,200 m). (B, L, D)

Wishcash – Cullicocha Pass (4,850 m) – Osoruri (4,600 m): Uphill hike to Cullicocha pass, then descent to the camp in Osoruri. (B, L, D)

Osoruri – Vientuna Pass (4,750 m) – Ruinapampa (3,900 m): Beginning of the Alpamayo gorge. Camp. (B, L, D)

Ruinapampa – Jancarurish (4,300 m): Short day with time to visit Jancarurish Lagoon and photograph the pyramidal side of the famous Alpamayo. Camp. (B, L, D)

Jancarurish – Cara Cara Pass (4,830 m) – Huillcapampa (4,000 m): Crossing of Cara Cara pass and Tayapampa pass (4,400 m). Camp in Huillcapampa. (B, L, D)

Huillcapampa – Yanajanca Pass (4,600 m) – Jancapampa (3,500 m). Camp. (B, L, D)

Jancapampa – Tupa Tupa Pass (4,400 m) – Huecroncocha (4,200 m). Camp. (B, L, D)

Huecroncocha – Alto de Pucaraju (4,650 m) – Paria Gorge (3,870 m). Camp. (B, L, D)

Paria Gorge – Huaripampa – Colcabamba – Molinopampa (3,600 m). Camp. (B, L, D)

Molinopampa – Yanayacu Pass (4,850 m) – Yanacocha Lagoon (4,000 m). Camp. (B, L, D)

Yanacocha Lagoon – Arena Curva: Last day of trekking. Arrival at the head of the Ulta gorge and connection with the road from Chacas to Carhuaz. Private bus trip to Huaraz. Hotel in Huaraz. (B, L)

Huaraz – Lima: Transfer by scheduled bus to Lima. Hotel. If you are leaving by flight, transfer to Anta airport. (B)

Lima: Only in the case that the group travels by bus, the transfer from the hotel to the airport will be made. Departure flight from the country. End of our services.

The program includes:

• Transfers and Logistics:
  • Inbound and outbound transfers (Airport/Hotel) according to the program.
  • Interprovincial transportation Lima – Huaraz – Lima.
  • Transfers in private bus to the starting and return points of the trekking.
• Accommodation:
  • Lima: Category 3* hotels (based on a double room with private bathroom and continental breakfast).
  • Cordillera Negra: Accommodation at the “Eco Camp & Lodge Willcacocha” (double rooms).
  • Huaraz and others: Category 2* to 3* standard hotels, according to the program (double rooms with private bathroom).
  • Note: Single rooms are available only upon request and with a previously agreed additional cost.
• Tours and Excursions:
  • Guided trekking “Alpamayo and Huascarán Loop” according to the itinerary.
  • Scheduled cultural tours.
  • Entrance tickets to trekking routes and all necessary permits.
• Expedition Personnel:
  • Permanent assistance from our certified guides and agency support.
  • Specialized cook and kitchen assistant (depending on group size).
  • Muleteers and pack animals (mules or llamas) for the group’s logistics.
  • Note: A maximum weight of 12 kg per person is recommended for the personal equipment to be transported by the animals.
• Mountain Equipment:
  • Mountain tents (capacity for 2 people) and mats.
  • Collective camping equipment: kitchen tent, dining tent, and toilet tent.
  • Full utensils (plates, cups, cutlery), kitchen tools, fuel, and packing boxes.
• Meals and Safety:
  • Full board during trekking days. Key: B (Breakfast), L (Lunch or Box Lunch) and D (Dinner).
  • Basic first aid kit and medicinal oxygen tank for emergencies.

The program does not include:

• Personal trekking equipment and sleeping bag (we recommend bringing -10°C comfort bags for the trekking).
• Lunches and dinners in cities, as noted in the program (Lima, Huaraz).
• Laundry, phone calls, alcoholic beverages, etc.
